The Convergence Objective of the Structural Funds is the main priority of the European Union's cohesion policy
also in the period 2007-2013. Therefore, 57.2% of the appropriations from the Structural Funds are earmarked for
the recovery of the most disadvantaged regions, the so-called 'convergence regions', with a gross domestic
product (GDP) of less than 75% of the Community average.
Spain will receive resources from the Convergence Objective amounting to EUR 18,752 million (10.7% of the total
allocated to this Objective) between 2007 and 2013. Four Spanish regions (Andalusia, Castilla - La Mancha,
Extremadura and Galicia) benefit from these resources.
