Phasing-out regions

The Phasing-Out Objective of the Structural Funds, which is included in the Convergence and Employment Objective, consists of those regions that would have been below 75% of the Community average to EU-15 and that have exceeded this percentage by having decreased the average after the entry of the 12 new countries. For this reason, these regions are also known as those which no longer belong to the Convergence objective because of 'statistical effect'. In the period 2007-2013, 4.1% of the appropriations from the Structural Funds (i.e. EUR 12.521million) will be allocated to these regions.

Spain will receive resources from the Phasing-Out Objective amounting to EUR 1,419 million (11.3% of the total allocated to this Objective) between 2007 and 2013. Four Spanish regions (Asturias, Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla) benefit from these resources.
