The Phasing-in Objective of the Structural Funds consists of those regions which would have ceased to belong to Objective 1 because of natural effect, i.e. to exceed 75% of the Community average for EU-25. It is also the main priority of the European Union's cohesion policy in the period 2007-2013. These regions are allocated 3.4% of the appropriations from the Structural Funds (i.e. EUR 10.385 million).
Spain will receive EUR 3,856 million (37.1% of the total allocated to this objective) from 2007 to 2013. Three Spanish regions (Castilla y León, Comunidad Valenciana and the Canary Islands) will benefit from these resources. It should be noted that Spain will also receive, in order to apply in the Canary Islands, 44.4% of the total amount of the RUP fund. A sum of EUR 981 million has been allocated, of which the Canary Islands receives 436.
